7 Countries that Said ‘Adios’ to Fossil Fuels & Run 100% on Clean Energy
A major argument against conversion to clean energy source is that a lot of people who work for the fossil fuel industry will lose their jobs. In fact, this has become the center of US President Trump’s campaign.
His message of promoting fossil fuels has made him successful in winning over middle-class voters from crucial states of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. He may promise to bring those jobs back, but in reality, he can’t. Fossil fuel is a limited energy source and is already depleting. A lot of countries have shifted to clean energy because they can no longer count on fossil fuel to do the job.
Besides, there are a lot of alternative energy sources that don’t cause as much pollution as fossil fuel. Some small countries have proven that fossil fuels can be totally eliminated from their system. The Danish island of Samso for instance has stopped relying on fossil fuel.
This small island of 4,000 people now gets their energy source from water, sun and wind. You might think that it only applies to smaller nations. It is untrue. Denmark, a country of over 6 million inhabitants, has also succeeded in fully stopping the use of fossil fuels. Even another huge European country, Portugal, has also become successful.
It only means that with the right political will, things can be done. The infographic below shows the other countries that have made it possible to not use fossil fuel to survive.
